The story so far
CaliCam starts with a 28-year-old in Italy and a small frustration: when it is time to train, there is always something else to manage. The timer. The rep count. Another screen asking for attention.
The idea is simple: put the phone down and get on with the set. Let the camera do the counting. Keep the useful details for afterward.
That is the spirit behind CaliCam: an independent project, built one decision at a time, for people who want movement to fit the day they actually have.
The rules it is built on
- Count, don't grade. The on-device tracker applies each movement's counting rules without assigning a form score.
- Visibility matters. If the camera cannot see the full movement or an exercise rule is not met, the tracker may wait or refuse a count.
- Replays are a separate opt-in feature for adults: videos are uploaded for private playback in your profile and kept until you delete them or your account.
- Rep counting runs on-device. Coach Lens can keep a temporary local replay, never uploaded. Optional diagnostics and live race video have separate choices in the privacy policy.
- Consistency beats intensity. A short circuit at your level, done every day, is worth more than a perfect plan you never start.
- Numbers are sacred. If a number on a screen cannot be earned, it is not shown.
What it is not
CaliCam is not a medical device. The current public App Store version counts only its listed camera-tracked movements; it does not count loaded lifts, running, or race stations. A larger exercise library is in development, and supported counting will be described for each movement when it is released. When camera tracking is the wrong tool for a session, this page says so.
